Recipe for bakery style frosting?
I'm looking for a bakery style frosting - and I'm not referring to Wilton's buttercream recipe, but rather the kind that you get from a Sobey's cake or a Metro cake. The nice fluffy, not too sweet type of frosting. My family thinks the Wilton frosting is too sweet and they just don't like it.
My problem is that I decorate cakes for fun, and I need a frosting (like the grocery store cake kind) that I can make flowers, shells, stars, etc. and have them hold well.
Any ideas? I'm even willing to purchase a tub of bakery-style frosting if it's available, but I know grocery stores won't sell their frosting.

Actually most grocery stores do sell their icing. I live in California and I know they all do here. It is my understanding that WalMart and Sam's Club do as well as Costco.
I have a recipe for a buttercream icing which is much lighter than the Wilton recipe if you would like to try it.
WHIPPED TOPPING
1/2 cup boiling water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 Tablespoon. Meringue Powder
Dissolve sugar in boiling water, cool completely. Add meringue powder and beat until meringue clings to the beaters, Set aside. In another bowl blend together and then beat for 10 minutes the following ingredients.
2 cups cake & icing shortening or 1 cup cake & icing shortening and 1 cup margarine
1 1/2 tsp flavoring
1 pound powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
When all fluffy, add 1/2 of first mixture and beat well. Add remainder of meringue and mix well.

The Lovely Bones
Based on the New York Time's best seller by Alice Sebold and directed by Oscar winner Peter Jackson, this film is an On Demand must watch. Torn between allowing her family to move on and heal and seeking vengeance against her killer, The Lovely Bones tells the story of a young girl who has been raped and stabbed to death that hovers over her family and her killer from heaven. Starring roles are played by Oscar winners Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon as well as Oscar nominees Mark Wahlberg and Saoirse Ronan.
The Men Who Stare at Goats
Starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor and Jeff Bridges, The Men Who Stare at Goats is a creative adaptation of the book by the same name by Jon Ronson that documents Ronson's investigation into attempts by US military forces to use psychic powers. Ewan McGregor plays reporter Bob Wilton who skips off to Kuwait to report on the Iraq War. He stumbles upon the story of a lifetime when he encounters Special Forces officer Lyn Cassady (Clooney) who was part of an American army unit that trains psychic spies.
The Damned United
After England failed to qualify for the 1974 World Cup, manager Alf Ramsey is replaced by Leeds United manager Don Revie. As a replacement for Revie over at Leeds, Brian Clough takes over the club and plans to clean up the players' dirty style of play. The film takes a look at Clough's 44 day reign as coach and gives you glimpses of his earlier career, explaining his disdain for previous manager Don Revie as well as his need for former right-hand man Peter Taylor.

Suddenly the life he loves is threatened just short of ten million frequent flyer miles when his boss hires young Natalie (Anna Kendrick) who develops a video conferencing method that makes ever leaving the office completely unnecessary. While attempting to show Natalie the error of her logic, the learning experience is not only hers.
