My personal choice would be a French press / press pot (see the link).

First of all they're cheap, so you can buy several. I use mine for both coffee and tea, but you can use it to froth milk & make hot chocolate (using the press to remove most of any powder).

All you need is water ready keeping some hot on the stove and have some ground coffee or tea leaves/bags ready.

As soon as someone shows up, you put the coffee grounds/tea in, pour in the hot water, greet your guests while it steeps (4 minutes for coffee, 5-7 minutes for tea), excuse yourself, press, pour, and return with a delicious drink.

If you buy multiples, you can have several of each ready at all times.

It only takes 30 seconds to clean one for the next batch. Just don't use the same for tea that just made coffee until it's been properly washed. It will make the tea taste bad.
