breville Wizz Stainless Plus? anyone?
my partner just bought me a breville mixing wand.. its a multi function mixer.. i already have a food processor and my son is almost at the age where i dont puree much for him. but i still use it once a weekish.. i know i will use the hand wand instead most of the time. its pretty sweet looking. but before i open it up i want to know if the whisk function is good. its all i really need it for. if its not gonna whisk, beat and cream the things i need properly, id rather save the money for a good table mixer and just use my big food processor.. i dont bake that often, so as long as it does the job for making frosting, cheesecakes, meringue.. things like that. anyone have a handheld whisker/wand like this?? its not a "hand mixer" with the two prongs.. its one big whisk with a moter. that also purifys and chops.
A great addition to your kitchen. It can be used for many things ranging from scrabbled eggs to whipped potatoes, and all points in between.
Just about anywhere a hand mixer can be used, this tool will function with quicker results. Experiment, have fun, be creative, and enjoy!
Oh, it makes a quick thick milk shake.

Food Processors: Who Else Wants Delicious Summer Snacks?
When you are stuck in the heat of the summer it can sometimes be hard to get up the motivation to turn on the oven to make dinner. Still, it is important not to fall too hard into the habit of getting takeout or going out to eat every night.
Not only is cooking your own meals a great way to save money, it can also be a lot healthier and be a great bonding experience with your friends and family. It would be a shame to waste a summer of that because it is too hot to cook.
Here are a few recipes that you can whip up right in your food processor that won't overheat your kitchen during the hot summer months.
Cashew and Red Pepper "Cheese" Spread
One trick that people who are lactose intolerant use to get around eating cheese is to make savory spreads out of nuts. Amazingly this can have a cheese-like texture and the nuts themselves will take on the flavor of the seasonings when they are all mashed up.
This is a delicious no-cook recipe that everyone can enjoy.
1 cup raw cashews
3 cloves garlic
1/3 large red bell pepper
1 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon onion powder or ¼ white onion
½ teaspoon sea salt
If you have a smaller food processor like the Cuisinart DLC-2ABCFR Mini-prep Plus Processor than you might have to chop up the pepper and onion a little bit before you put them in. Otherwise it is just a matter of blending everything until it is smooth. This spread is great on crackers or in a piece of pita bread with some fresh garden greens and tomato slices.
Crock Pot Veggie Stew
Another great way to do some cooking in the summertime without turning your whole kitchen into an oven is to slow-cook in a crock pot. This takes a little longer but if you are going to be running in and out of the house all day you can pretty much just let it go while you are out and dinner will be ready for you later.
5 cloves garlic
2 large carrots
½ onion
2 stalks celery
2 potatoes (peeled and chopped into cubes)
2 bay leaves
3 14-ounce cans great northern beans (drained)
1/3 cup olive oil
1 14-ounce can vegetable broth
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon garam masala
water
Start out by finely chopping the garlic in a large food processor like the Hamilton Beach 70610 Big Mouth Food Processor. You want to do the garlic first because it requires a finer chop. Once the garlic looks good you can throw in the carrots, onions, and celery and chop them finely as well. The potatoes you are going to have to do by hand.
Throw the first nine ingredients in the crock pot and pour in enough water to cover everything by an inch or so. Turn the crock pot on high and let it cook for five hours. Go out and do something fun while you wait. Take a walk. Visit an old friend. Sit in the park.
When you get back turn the crock pot down to low. Add the salt and garam masala and stir. It should be noted that garam masala is simply a combination of spices common in Indian cuisine. If you can't find it at your grocery store you can just season with some cumin, black pepper, curry powder, coriander, red pepper, and any other spices you think might go well.
Let this heat on low for another hour or two. Then give it a good stir and serve.
Greek Feta Cheese Dip
Summertime is dip season. Big time. Dips like this one are great because they are served cold and perfect for dipping garden vegetables into. This dip is even better when you add the chives from your very own garden.
400 grams of feta cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 roasted red pepper, chopped and seeded
3 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons of fresh chives, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
pinch or two of cayenne pepper
If you are roasting your own red pepper (and not using the kind in a jar), start off by putting it directly on an open flame and turning it with tongs until the skin is blackened. Put the roasted pepper in a paper back for five or ten minutes. This will make it easier to peel off the skin.
Of course you may not want to heat up the kitchen in the summer, so canned roasted pepper works just as well.
Start by chopping the garlic in your food processor separately. This recipe makes a lot of dip so you are going to need a fairly large processor like the KitchenAid 700-watt 12-cup Food Processor. After you have chopped the garlic you just add all the other ingredients and reduce to a puree. Let this chill for an hour or so and then invite some friends over for snacks.
All of these recipes are great ways to stay cool and healthy throughout the summer months. Try them out at your next barbecue or cocktail party. Keep cooking and stay hungry.
