whats my race / ethnicity?
i was born in england and brought up here.
dad's side:
my gran was from fiji, and my grandfather was half romanian. my dad is reaaaaaallly dark and so are all my uncles like one of them is as dark as black coffee!
mum's side:
my nan was french. my mum has jet black hair, but blue eyes and PALE porcelain skin.
Ok and i have dark blonde hair, swarthy skin, and dark green eyes. what race am i?
Generically speaking you'd be mixed race, now on the census probably White/Black or Mixed-Other. But as we all know these are very resitrictive. It all comes down to an argument of where we think we should be able to describe ourselves ethnically and accurately, or whether race shouldn't be defined as it is a concept made up by man for various reasons. In an ideal world it shouldn't matter, but as theres a flawed racial categorisation system in place, it makes people from multiple backgrounds either feel awkward or left out. I'd either not define yourself and be ambigous yet knowing your roots, or make an attempt to fight for your specific identity and multiple heritage identification.
ps. You shouldn't be asking others this, it's not about what others think... It's about how YOU define yourself!
